Gradual gluing of pieces, layers
With your own hands, you can make heads for dolls, boxes, and any items that need polishing from paper, since it is in this technique that it is easiest to make the surface smooth.
Primarily, a base form is prepared, on which pieces of paper and newspapers will then be glued. It should be borne in mind that when removing the blank, the paper structure will be damaged and additional layers will be required.
For blanks, you can use plasticine molds, balloons.
Another important condition for easy and quick separation of the paper is the surface of the mold well coated with petroleum jelly or wrapped in several layers of cling film. The smallest number of layers of paper is up to pcs. Products will turn out to be thin and weightless. There is no maximum level of layers, but it is important to understand that the thickness of the finished product reaches almost a centimeter in thickness after fifteen layers of paper. Therefore, it makes little sense to make a lot of layers.
So, how does the creation of a figure take place in the multilayer gluing technique:
- The blank is coated with Vaseline.
- It is better to tear paper or newspapers for crafts with your hands, as the finished product will turn out smoother. Each piece of leaf is coated with PVA glue or paste, which is also quite simple and quick to cook at home.
It is recommended to use paper of different colors, this technique will help to distinguish where the previous layer ends.
- The product is thoroughly dried for at least a day. With the passage of time, it is neatly separated from the form. The necessary incisions are made with a very sharp knife. After the paper is peeled off, the edges of the cuts are glued with another 1-2 layers of paper.
- If the structure will be painted in the future, it is recommended to cover it with another layer of white paper.
- After the product is completely dry, it can be corrected and sanded with fine-grained emery.
It is most convenient to use acrylic paints for painting, as they dry quickly and adhere well to the surface.
Also, to add shine and increase the brightness of the coloring, the finished structure can be varnished.
Let's take a look at the layering technique with a simple example.
Papier-mache ball master class
For such a papier-mâché craft, you need:
- pieces of old newspapers;
- glue;
- brush;
- petrolatum;
- balloon.
Step-by-step instructions on how to make a ball:
- The balloon inflated to the required size is coated with Vaseline.
- Pieces of newspaper are applied to the ball base, coated with glue. It is best to start at the top of the ball, leaving the tail outside.
- Subsequent layers are applied overlapping the previous ones.
The finished structure is left until the paper is completely dry. It will be possible to separate the ball by piercing it from below and pulling on the tail left outside. The hole is sealed with several layers of paper.
- The finished ball can be lightly sanded and painted.
If you are looking for a convenient way to make a mask-layered method, this is what you need.
From soft pulp
This method is convenient for sculpting forms both on the frame and without it.
-How to make the basis of such a mass? Newspapers or other paper products are poured with warm water and left to soak for several hours. From time to time a mass of newspapers needs to be played with your hands.
If the sheets are in a metal container, they can be periodically warmed up; in warm water the paper gets soaked faster than in cold water.
- After complete softening of the sheets, you need to carefully squeeze out all the liquid and shred the paper. To do this, you can use a blender, a meat grinder or a sieve, the latter is certainly the most laborious process, but the mass will be the most uniform.
- After grinding, everything is mixed with the adhesive. The gruel is kneaded to such an extent that it stops sticking to your hands.
- You can start sculpting crafts. The finished structure dries out completely within 2 days. It is recommended not to dry the mass on the battery, as this may cause creases and cracks. You can also paint crafts made in this way with acrylic paints, grinding with fine sandpaper.
Papier-mâché from egg trays
One of the easiest ways to make papier-mâché pulp from egg trays:
- egg trays;
- a saucepan or other metal container;
- hot water;
- mixer, you can even use a kitchen mixer;
- construction putty;
- glue.
Step-by-step instructions on how to make papier-mâché from egg trays:
- Paper egg trays need to be torn into small pieces, put them in a container, in which they will be further soaked.
- Pour boiling water over the paper and simmer over low heat for 15-20 minutes. Over time, the mass is removed from the stove and left to cool.
- When the mass has reached room temperature, it can be crushed with a mixer to a uniform, mushy mass.
- Next, you need to warm up the mass on the stove again for 10 minutes and punch it again with a mixer.
- Warm paper gruel is carefully wrung out.
- The glue must be diluted with water to a ratio of 2 to 1. Stir in the putty until a mass is obtained, with the thickness of sour cream.
- Now you can add paper gruel to the glue and putty. Everything is thoroughly mixed until the mass is uniform.
From toilet paper
For this sculpting option, you can use the cheapest toilet paper.
